Recent research shows that the human brain often reaches its peak much later than commonly believed. While physical abilities peak in early adulthood, psychological functioning—including reasoning, emotional stability, moral judgment, and decision-making—typically peaks between ages 55 and 60. Traits like conscientiousness and emotional stability continue to improve into the mid-60s and mid-70s, respectively, and the ability to resist cognitive biases may strengthen well into the 70s and 80s.
