Just days before his 90th birthday (July 6), the 14th Dalai Lama said that the institution of the Dalai Lama will continue, and the responsibility of determining his successor will be with the Gaden Phodrang Trust. This is in direct contradiction to China, which claims it will choose the next successor. What happens then? Will there be two Dalai Lamas?
