Based on recent reports and a LocalCircles survey, there has been a significant surge in H3N2 virus cases, a type of Influenza A, particularly in the Delhi NCR region and extending to other states. The survey indicated that 69% of households in Delhi NCR had members with flu-like symptoms. Experts describe H3N2 as a seasonal flu strain with common symptoms like high fever, sore throat, cough, and body aches, which can be difficult to distinguish from other viral infections. While most cases are treated with rest and fluids, complications like pneumonia can occur, especially in high-risk individuals such as children, the elderly, and those with chronic health conditions. Prevention is key and involves frequent handwashing, wearing masks, avoiding close contact with sick individuals, and getting vaccinated.
