Former WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan warned that the ongoing Ebola outbreak highlights major gaps in global health preparedness, urging countries to collaborate on medical supplies, diagnostics and emergency response systems as the rare Bundibugyo strain spreads in parts of Africa without an approved vaccine or treatment.
