Railway Ministry understated its working expenditure in 2022-23: CAG Report

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) revealed that Indian Railways understated its expenses. This happened in the financial year 2022-23. The expenses were understated by over 5,000 crore rupees. Railways presented a net profit, but the CAG found a net loss. The loss occurred when passenger service deficits were offset by freight service profits.
