Power Grid Corporation of India won a 2,000 MWh battery energy storage project in Andhra Pradesh through competitive bidding, receiving the Letter of Award on December 29, 2024. The project involves developing a standalone BESS under the Build-Own-Operate model with Viability Gap Funding support, including a 150 MW / 300 MWh facility at Kalikiri substation in Chittoor district.
