KK Theckedath, a pioneering leader of teachers’ rights and CPI(M) Maharashtra State Secretariat member, passed away at 89. A founder of the Bombay University and College Teachers Union, he organised educators across Maharashtra, endured 15 months’ detention during the Emergency, and served uninterrupted on BUCTU’s executive for 50 years, including over a decade as general secretary.
