The South Indian film industry has experienced a diverse range of successful releases this year, with the sports drama "Peddi" emerging as the highest-grossing South Indian movie of 2026, having surpassed Suriya's "Karuppu" with a reported Rs 378 crore worldwide box office collection within just ten days of its theatrical release, despite receiving mixed reviews, while "Karuppu" has also achieved significant success, crossing Rs 340 crore globally. Following these blockbusters, Chiranjeevi's action-packed family entertainer "Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu" secured the third spot with Rs 300 crore, ending the actor's dry spell, and Malayalam franchise entries "Drishyam 3" and "Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros" both crossed Rs 235 crore at the global box office, with all these major films subsequently released on various streaming platforms.
