The Mediterranean diet, abundant in plant-based foods, healthy fats, and antioxidants, is widely recognized for supporting heart and brain health. Recent research indicates that it may also aid in protecting against gum disease. A study from Kings College London discovered that people who closely chose this diet had healthier gums and decreased inflammation, while those ingesting greater red meat had worse gum health.
