Maharashtra UD Department Permits Commercial Use Of Large Playgrounds; Introduces ‘Integrated Sports Complex’ Plan

Maharashtra’s Urban Development department, led by Eknath Shinde, has proposed amending UDCPR to allow integrated sports complexes with commercial components. At least 70% area must be used for sports, while 30% can host hotels, malls and retail. The move aims to create modern sports hubs while ensuring financial sustainability of large infrastructure projects.
