GoM accepts Centre’s GST proposal, to recommend scrapping of 12%, 28% slabs

The Group of Ministers on GST rate rationalisation concluded with states agreeing to restructure the indirect tax system. The current four-rate structure will be replaced with two rates. A higher levy will remain on sin goods. The move aims to simplify GST and broaden compliance. The GoM also reviewed GST exemption on health and life insurance.
