Dip in murders; cybercrimes, crimes against STs spiked: NCRB 2023

India recorded a 2.8% decrease in murders in 2023, but new NCRB data reveals a concerning 28.8% surge in crimes against Scheduled Tribes. Cybercrimes also dramatically increased by 31.2%. Overall cognizable crimes rose by 7.2%, with a nominal 0.4% increase in crimes against women, indicating shifting crime landscapes across the nation.
