Civic body proposes restoration of historic wells in walled city

Amritsar is making renewed efforts to reconnect with its rich water heritage, as the municipal corporation has begun restoring several abandoned wells inside the walled city. Recently, the MC General House approved Rs 49 lakh for the rejuvenation of select historic wells in inner city areas. Another project is also being carried out in the area, known as “40 Khooh” (linked to wells dug in 1904), to supply tap water to Amritsar.
