The Iranian government has offered a monthly payment of about $7 (Rs 631) to 80 million (eight crore) Iranians in efforts to quell protests over the country’s economic crisis and plunging value of the currency rial. Demonstrations have taken place across the West Asian nation since December 28, with chants of ‘freedom’ and ‘death to the dictator’ heard in some cases. How will Iran stem this anger?
