India’s overseas development priorities in the Union Budget 2026-27 signal a recalibration of regional engagement, with Bhutan continuing to receive the largest share of assistance while allocations for Bangladesh have been sharply reduced. The absence of funding for the strategic Chabahar port project also comes amid looming uncertainty over the expiry of the US sanctions waiver later this year.
