Book Row: NCERT Apologises; SC Says 'If Allowed To Go Unchecked Will Erode Sanctity Of Judicial Office'

The NCERT has withdrawn its newly released Class 8 Social Science textbook after “inappropriate material” was found in a judiciary chapter. Following concerns raised by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education, NCERT halted distribution, issued an apology, and said the chapter will be rewritten for the 2026–27 academic session.
