After Pinarayi Vijayan, Tamil Nadu CM Stalin blasts Modi, Centre over RSS centenary stamp, coin

Published on: Oct. 2, 2025, 5:28 p.m. | Source: THE WEEK

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre for releasing a special postage stamp and a commemorative coin to mark the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). In his Gandhi Jayanthi message, Stalin expressed dismay at the nation's leadership honoring an organization he associates with the ideology that shaped Mahatma Gandhi's assassin. He emphasized India's secular principles and called for a collective pledge to safeguard them. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan echoed these sentiments, labeling the commemoration as a 'grave insult to our Constitution' and a legitimization of a divisive ideology that abstained from the freedom struggle. The controversy centers around a new Rs 100 coin featuring Bharata Mata, released by PM Modi.
