8 undergrads built an AI tool. IITs are now using it to fix India's welfare gap

EmpowerHub is a student-built AI platform developed by Newton School of Technology graduates with IIT Roorkee, and the Social Studies Foundation, fully funded by the Ministry of Education (ICSSR). The tool, already in use at IIT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur and IIT Dharwad, uses AI to help map and match government welfare schemes, closing long-standing access gaps and supporting real-time social research and policy development across India.
