A neurologist from Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad explains that the ideal sleep range is around 7–8 hours, but the way sleep is distributed across the week also matters. According to him, people who sleep very little during weekdays but catch up on sleep over the weekend may not face higher mortality risk compared to those with consistent 7-hour sleep. However, consistently sleeping 5 hours or less without recovery is linked to significantly higher health risks.
