One of the strongest recorded earthquakes in the world, a powerful 8.8-magnitude quake, hit Russia’s Far East early on Wednesday, triggering tsunami waves that reached Japan and parts of the US, including Alaska and Hawaii. Much of the US West Coast, including Canada’s British Columbia, as well as Washington state and California, remains under a tsunami advisory.
